Pregnant and Considering Adoption
Meet the Founders Phone us: |
Many professionals in the adoption community, have direct access to birthmothers. Many birthmothers do receive pre and post adoption counseling which is usually very helpful. But, BirthMom Buds provides unique support for pregnant women considering adoption and birthmothers who have placed children for adoption. While counseling is beneficial and we do not want to be a replacement for counseling, we can offer the support of people who have walked down the same path and been there before.
BirthMom Buds is a website and not for profit
organization that provides support, friendship, and encouragement to
birthmothers and pregnant women considering adoption. We
are not affiliated with any agency, we simply provide support and a
listening ear. We do not try to sway the decision of the one in the
decision making process. We simply support them with whatever decision
they end up choosing. All of our services are free of charge.
Below is a brief description of the services
BirthMom Buds provides · Buddy System ~ This unique program, allows birthmothers to be paired with another birthmother of similar interests, adoption types, and locations. The “buddies” can then communicate via email, phone calls, or whatever they are most comfortable with. · Pregnant and Placing area ~ A separate program for those who are pregnant and considering adoption. On our web site, there are many resources for pregnant birthmoms, including info on entrustment ceremonies, questions to ask prospective parents and more. We also have a mentoring program for these girls, where they are matched with an already placed birthmother in their state. We provide phone mentoring as well as we know not every potential birthmother has internet access. If the woman does choose to place her child for adoption, we send her a care package at about 2-3 weeks post relinquishment that includes pampering type items such as a journal, photo album, picture frame, bath gels, candle, etc... · Toll free help line ~ Right now, this number is only a voice mail system and they can leave a number and one of the founders will return their call with in 48 hours. We would like to upgrade to a toll free land line at some point. The help line number is 1-877-790-4174 · Healing Hearts by Sending Hope ~ This program at BirthMom Buds sends care packages to girls who have recently placed their babies for adoption. · Chats ~ On our web site, we have weekly chats hosted by our founders. Birthmoms have a safe place to come in and share their feelings. · BirthMom Showcase ~ Another area of our web site, this allows birthmoms to write their adoption story and we create a page for them including pics of their birth child. · Newsletter ~ Our monthly newsletter gives our members information on what is going on with in BirthMom Buds and includes are articles and poetry on other adoption orginizations and issuses that birthmothers face. · Hospital Experiences Brochure and Hospital Action Plan ~ Co-founder, Coley Strickland researched and wrote the brochure “Defining Adoption Guidelines for the Medical Community” which is aimed at giving medical professionals a birthmothers’ point of view. Read the article/interview about the medical brochures by Skye Hardwick!
