Always My Daughter
by Alicia Moser
From the time I
knew you were inside me,
I knew you would be,
always my daughter.
When I first held
you,
I knew then you would always be my daughter,
and that is so true.
Then they took
you from me,
but, even then, I knew you would be,
always my daughter.
I got to visit
you,
but it was not enough,
you will still be my daughter,
the one who I will always love.
The day came when they terminated
my rights to you,
and I could not fight the fight no more,
you would always be my daughter,
even though they closed the door.
Even when your
foster parents adopted you,
and my heart was sore,
in my heart, you were always my daughter,
my heart will never say goodbye.
And, even if I
never see you again on this earth,
if I never again get to hug you or kiss your cheek,
or tell you I love you,
like I do your sisters,
or how much I miss you,
in my heart you will always be,
as you always have been,
always my daughter.
