BirthMom Buds

Another Year
By Alicia Moser
Alicia wrote this poem in honor of her birth daughter around the new year.
Another year goes by,
and it is so hard not to show the tears I cry.
As we count down, 5-4-3-2-1, into the new year,
my only wish is to have you near.
If I could talk to you today,
there are so many things I would want to say.
I would tell you you are always in my heart and soul,
and, without you in my life, there is a big hole.
I would tell you that I hope your life is good,
and that you are happy growing up in your neighborhood.
And, that, though I did not choose the parents who raise you,
that I know their love for you, like mine, is so true.
And I would give you many hugs and kisses,
and tell you how much my "little girl" I really do miss.
Until the day comes when I see you again,
my heart will be blue.
I send across the miles,
a lot of love and many smiles.
If you know I exist,
think of me as I do of you,
and wish upon a star.
Know your birth mom loves you so true,
for me, give yourself a big kiss and a hug,
because even from a far,
at my heartstrings, you will always tug.
