My name is Shannon and I live in Charleston, South Carolina. I got pregnant in November of 2005. The birthfather and I were together for two years before I got pregnant. He told me to hit the road after I found out I found out I was pregnant. I did not have my life together at all to take care of my baby. I could not even take care of myself at the time. Thank God for my Brother and his wife! They asked me to move in with them when I first found out that I was pregnant. My parents and I did not really talk at all till I was around 6 months pregnant and I went to their house and talked to my father. I decided then to give my daughter up for adoption. My Father said that it was the right thing to do. He told me that it would be very selfish of me to keep my daughter. I got on the internet and found an adoption agency. I went on and found a couple from Georgia to adopt my daughter. Well I gave birth on July3, 2005. I had my Mom and my Sister-in-Law there when I gave birth. I kept my birth daughter with me until the following afternoon when the adoptive parents showed up to see their new baby girl. Well I signed my rights over to the adoptive parents and I got released the same time. I could not stay in the hospital anymore after that. I just wanted to get back home. I went to stay with my parents and start getting my life back to normal. Well the following night my parents and I was eating dinner and the phone rang. It was the adoptive parent's attorney letting me know that they backed out of the adoption and wanted to know what I wanted to do. Well I decided that it was best for my daughter to have loving parents that could afford to give her everything that she needed. The attorney found a very nice married couple in South Carolina to adopt her. I agreed and I had to sign my rights over again. IT WAS TERRIBLE!!!! I met them the next day at a very nice restaurant and I said goodbye to my beautiful baby girl. They named her Mary Louise and she is 3 years old now and is such a happy child. I am always getting pictures of her and her adoptive family. She looks just like me when I was her age. She has beautiful red hair!!! I am very happy with my decision. I get down sometimes but, I know deep in my heart that she will come back to me when she grows up. That's my birthmother story!! Thank you for reading!
